life in 3d

yesterday it was my friend and collaborator ned ambler‘s birthday. i’ve known ned for 20 years and he has photographed the bulk of my album covers and press pics- and he even goes on the blogs and picks out great new music for me to dj. he is a talented director, photographer, and now fine artist. there is nothing he can’t do! so, we went so see alice in wonderland last night in 3d and it was incredible. much better than avatar in its spiritual inklings. and the acting was great. we were a motley crew, everyone from antony of antony & the johnsons (who is amazing!) to kembra of the voluptous horror of karen black (also amazing) to josh jordan who took that iconic pic of me holding the guitar with the snappy one sleeve yves saint laurent jacket. and ned took these pictures. leave it to ned to make us look like we’re at studio 54 in the 70’s instead of a bland chelsea movie theatre.
